New schedule! Starting in August 2025, we will meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month
We practice mindfulness together as a community, or Sangha, following in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. This is a branch of Zen Buddhism but it is open to people of all faiths (including none)! You will not be asked to convert or even believe anything in particular; rather, the goal is to build a practice of mindfulness together so we can all face the challenges life brings with greater peace and clarity. As it is open to all, we warmly welcome the diversity of your experience: wherever you come from, however you look or identify, whomever you love.Â
You may like to try this 6-minute guided meditation by Sister Peace, which is one of the meditations we practice together.
The first monastery founded by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, called Plum Village, is located in France and surrounded by fields of sunflowers. Since we have nearby fields of sunflowers where we are located in Ohio, it is a beautiful connection between the two communities.
Sunflowers are also bright, cheerful, and provide food for wildlife and humans. The next time you see a sunflower, we invite you to breathe in and out mindfully as you smile to the little bit of sunshine in front of you.
